Play the game of pickleball, a fun sport that combines tennis, badminton, and ping-pong! We welcome all levels from beginners to advance. Equipment is available to borrow. To read more about the rules and instructions of pickleball see the link included in the forms section below. Requirements: You must wear a mask. Please bring your own paddle, wear sneakers and athletic clothing. 
 
4:30 PM - 5:30 PM    Crafty Art for Kids - Crafty Art for Kids
Children will explore with paint, oil pastels, clay and other medium to create their own masterpieces. They will complete and take home a different art project each week!Requirements: Clothes that you don't mind getting paint on!Masks will be required when unable to maintain a six foot distance. The room and materials will be sanitized before and after each class. Participants will not have to wear a mask when at their table, as seating will be spread out over 6 feet apart. Coordinator: Roberta Baker

Focus on mastering Jigs, reels and traditional set dances. This class is focused on fun and fancy footwork! Information will be provided regarding Class costumes and shoes.Champs class:Level: Pre-Open Level-Bun Grad CHeavy focus on Hard shoe and advanced choreography.This class is for competitive dancers that are preparing for the 2021 Provincial Championships.Requirements: Class size is limited to 12 dancers so we can safely follow social distancing protocol. Class will be held inside the building. Face masks are required when we are inside. Evening yoga & mindfulnessImagine ending your workday with a small group class geared towards your total relaxation and well being. Class begins with optional essential oils/lotion as you enter the yoga studio like environment with soft lights twinkling and relaxing background music playing. You are already feeling relaxed just entering this wonderful space…but there is more!Dawn will then lead you through a gentle, slow flow yoga planned carefully to help the body and mind release tension. Modifications are offered during all classes so that new students as well as seasoned yogis or yoginis can benefit from this nurturing practice.Breathing techniques designed to alleviate stress both on and off the mat (in the real world, where let's face it most stress happens) will be taught and practiced.Classes will incorporate the principles of mediation and mindfulness. The goal of this class is that you feel relaxed, rejuvenated and centered when you leave class. Additionally these skills can often help you to manage situational stress/anxiety/tension as it occurs once you step off your mat and head back into the real world.Morning Yoga Let Dawn guide you through gentle yoga moves that are perfect for all levels. Learn breathing and relaxation techniques to take off the mat and out into the real world. Enjoy some stretching and leave class feeling calm and rejuvenated! Step away from technology and join our instructor, Barbara Crandell, for some serious action packed fun! Program Unplugged focuses on great games and constant playing. We introduce a variety of sports, games, and activities that are simple to learn and really fun to play. We like to introduce kids to these activities that they in turn can bring home and play with their friends and family.Requirements: Mask, comfortable clothes, water bottle and sneakers. We will go outside as often as possible so be sure to dress accordingly!Instructor: Barbara Crandell

Puppy is an exciting program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. The STAR puppy program includes the following: basic puppy-raising information (jumping, house training, nipping...) , basic obedience skills, how to better communicate and understand the language of dogs, and what is needed for responsible pet ownership. This program is designed for dogs less than 7 months in age who have not had any prior group experience. TWEENER Is your dog 7 months or older and never attended a basic obedience class? Then this is the group class for you! The tweener class will cover all basic obedience skills (including how to infuse these skills as part of everyday life), how to better communicate with and understand the language of dogs, and what is needed for responsible pet ownership. *This is not a reactive dog class. Each dog needs to be privately evaluated by the instructor. Basic Obedience 2 Has your dog completed either the Star Puppy or Tweener Class and you're looking for the next level of training? Then this is the group class for you! The Basic Obedience 2 class is the next step of basic obedience skills taught in either the Star Puppy or Tweener Class.Canine Good Citizen ClassThe Canine Good Citizen Course (CGC) is designed to recognize dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. This nationally recognized program stresses responsible dog ownership for owners, good manners for dogs, and formalized basic obedience training. All dogs who pass the 10 CGC evaluation may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. *This is not a reactive dog class. Each dog needs to be privately evaluated by the instructor in terms of temperament and basic obedience skills.

We welcome all levels of players. Wear sneakers and bring your own racket.  The top priority is to make sure everyone is safe and healthy while enjoying the fun of playing badminton. The following rules are strictly enforced throughout the program. Must wear mask at all times Observe social distancing; keep at least 6 feet apart if not with the same family Use sanitizer, if provided, to clean your hands frequently Bring your own racket Serve only with the shuttlecock assigned to you Do not touch the shuttlecocks assigned to others; Push/hit back the shuttlecock with the racket to the other player for him/her to serve After each game, return your shuttlecock to the designated area so that it will be sanitized for the next game If you play doubles, try your best to minimize the switching of partners Player must pay for the monthly session in advance via the Parks and Recreation website to avoid handling cash exchange Any participant, including guardian or friend, who does not comply with any of the above rules is subject to leaving the Parks and Recreation facilities immediately when informed by the program coordinator, Parks and Recreation staff or New Milford town authorities Coordinator: Kamkeung Ho, Mark Pernerewski

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM    Tai Chi Qi Gong - Intro to Tai Chi Qi Gong
Intro to Tai Chi Qi Gong (8 weeks)Would you like to reduce stress while improving your balance and core strength? Tai Chi Qi Gong is an exercise system based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine which is practiced by millions daily for physical and spiritual well being. It is one of the most gentle and effective ways of working with the body, calming the nervous system, and healing body, mind, and spirit. This class will introduce standing meditation, various qi gong exercises (basic and advanced) and the Tai Chi form. No special equipment is required. Please wear comfortable loose clothing. Beginners welcome.The Swimming Dragon (4 weeks)The Swimming Dragon has the power to improve our health, fitness level and promote general well being. It is practice by repeating a short cycle of movements specifically designed as a comprehensive care system for the internal organs. The benefits of this movement are improvements in the digestive system and the ability to eliminate waste, improve the breathing process, fortifies the kidneys, relieves neck, shoulder, low back and hip pain by benefiting the spine, nervous system and meridians. Lastly it greatly enhances the body’s ability to relax, reducing stress and the associated ailments. In addition to The Swimming Dragon, students will also be introduced to the Taoist Relaxed and Clam Standing Meditation form to further bolster the body’s immune system.Eight Pieces of Brocade (4 weeks)An ancient Chinese exercise and fitness system used as an alternate healing therapy (AKA medical Qi Gong). It consists of a series of eight exercises that follow the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is one of the most gentle and effective ways of working with the body, calming the nervous system, healing body, mind and spirit. Eight Pieces of Brocade enables the student to correct physical and energetic imbalances, releases emotions and stress. It is a simple and effective way of directing Qi (life energy) throughout the body and remove blockages that can cause sickness or disease without acupuncture, herbs or massage. No special equipment is required, just loose comfortable clothes and footwear.Requirements: A facial covering, comfortable loose clothing, shoes with a flat sole (avoid shoes with large treads/grips).Instructor: Vinny Candela

Tai Chi Qi Gong is an exercise system based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine which is practiced by millions daily for physical and spiritual well being. It is one of the most gentle and effective ways of working with the body, calming the nervous system, and healing body, mind, and spirit. This class will introduce standing meditation, various qi gong exercises (basic and advanced) and the Tai Chi form. No special equipment is required. Please wear comfortable loose clothing. Beginners welcome.The Swimming Dragon (4 weeks)The Swimming Dragon has the power to improve our health, fitness level and promote general well being. It is practice by repeating a short cycle of movements specifically designed as a comprehensive care system for the internal organs. The benefits of this movement are improvements in the digestive system and the ability to eliminate waste, improve the breathing process, fortifies the kidneys, relieves neck, shoulder, low back and hip pain by benefiting the spine, nervous system and meridians. Lastly it greatly enhances the body’s ability to relax, reducing stress and the associated ailments. In addition to The Swimming Dragon, students will also be introduced to the Taoist Relaxed and Clam Standing Meditation form to further bolster the body’s immune system.Eight Pieces of Brocade (4 weeks)An ancient Chinese exercise and fitness system used as an alternate healing therapy (AKA medical Qi Gong). It consists of a series of eight exercises that follow the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is one of the most gentle and effective ways of working with the body, calming the nervous system, healing body, mind and spirit. Eight Pieces of Brocade enables the student to correct physical and energetic imbalances, releases emotions and stress. It is a simple and effective way of directing Qi (life energy) throughout the body and remove blockages that can cause sickness or disease without acupuncture, herbs or massage. The following rules are strictly enforced throughout the program. It consists of a series of eight exercises that follow the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Eight Pieces of Brocade enables the student to correct physical and energetic imbalances, releases emotions and stress. Tai Chi Qi Gong is an exercise system based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine which is practiced by millions daily for physical and spiritual well being. It is one of the most gentle and effective ways of working with the body, calming the nervous system, and healing body, mind, and spirit. This class will introduce standing meditation, various qi gong exercises (basic and advanced) and the Tai Chi form. No special equipment is required. Please wear comfortable loose clothing. Beginners welcome.The Swimming Dragon (4 weeks)The Swimming Dragon has the power to improve our health, fitness level and promote general well being. It is practice by repeating a short cycle of movements specifically designed as a comprehensive care system for the internal organs. The benefits of this movement are improvements in the digestive system and the ability to eliminate waste, improve the breathing process, fortifies the kidneys, relieves neck, shoulder, low back and hip pain by benefiting the spine, nervous system and meridians. Eight Pieces of Brocade enables the student to correct physical and energetic imbalances, releases emotions and stress. Intro to Tai Chi Qi Gong (8 weeks)Would you like to reduce stress while improving your balance and core strength? Tai Chi Qi Gong is an exercise system based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine which is practiced by millions daily for physical and spiritual well being. It is one of the most gentle and effective ways of working with the body, calming the nervous system, and healing body, mind, and spirit. This class will introduce standing meditation, various qi gong exercises (basic and advanced) and the Tai Chi form. No special equipment is required. Please wear comfortable loose clothing. Beginners welcome.The Swimming Dragon (4 weeks)The Swimming Dragon has the power to improve our health, fitness level and promote general well being. It is practice by repeating a short cycle of movements specifically designed as a comprehensive care system for the internal organs. The benefits of this movement are improvements in the digestive system and the ability to eliminate waste, improve the breathing process, fortifies the kidneys, relieves neck, shoulder, low back and hip pain by benefiting the spine, nervous system and meridians. Lastly it greatly enhances the body’s ability to relax, reducing stress and the associated ailments. In addition to The Swimming Dragon, students will also be introduced to the Taoist Relaxed and Clam Standing Meditation form to further bolster the body’s immune system.Eight Pieces of Brocade (4 weeks)An ancient Chinese exercise and fitness system used as an alternate healing therapy (AKA medical Qi Gong). It consists of a series of eight exercises that follow the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is one of the most gentle and effective ways of working with the body, calming the nervous system, healing body, mind and spirit. Eight Pieces of Brocade enables the student to correct physical and energetic imbalances, releases emotions and stress. It is a simple and effective way of directing Qi (life energy) throughout the body and remove blockages that can cause sickness or disease without acupuncture, herbs or massage. No special equipment is required, just loose comfortable clothes and footwear.Requirements: A facial covering, comfortable loose clothing, shoes with a flat sole (avoid shoes with large treads/grips).Instructor: Vinny Candela
