6:30 PM - 9:00 PM    Dodgeball League - Player Registration
Join Parks and Recreations first dogeball league! If you have a team, please register your team first so we can add your team to player registration. Once your team is registered, each player from your team can go in to register. If you go not have a team, you may register as a "free agent" and if we have enough people we will create a team for you.General Information-Each team will consist of 6 people, but can play with a minimum of 4. (Teams may have more than 6 players but only 6 on the court. Extras can enter as balls are caught allowing them to enter. Players must re-enter in the order they were out. -2 Females must start. If no females are in starting lineup, only 4 men can play throughout game.-Games will be 15 minutes long with running clock until 2 minutes left.Game play:-Each game lasts 15 minutes. Each game starts with 3 balls lined up on their side of the court. Each team must be lined up behind their own end line at the start.-Game begins by placing the dodgeballs at mark on court. Players then take a position behind their end line. Following a signal by the official, teams may approach the balls. This signal officially starts the contest. Once a ball is retrieved it must be taken behind the attack-line before it can be legally thrown.-The object of the game is to throw the ball at the opposing team and contact one or more of the opponents. Any person contacted by a thrown ball on the fly is out of the game. Deflections off of a teammate count.-The person throwing the ball is out if the ball is caught by an opposing player on the fly. Headshots will not count as an out (If a player ducks or lowers their head and the ball hits their head that dodger will be out.)-The thrower is not out if the ball is caught after deflecting off anything other than a player or a ball.-If the ball does bounce off an opposing player or ball and is then caught the thrower will then be out. This is true even if a different player catches the ball.-Once a player is out he/she must leave the playing area to a designated area on his/her side and should raise their hand to show they are no longer playing.-Players should remain on the court at all times during an active match. If a ball deflects out of bounds, the teams waiting to play will get balls and put them in play.-Players are not allowed to jump out of bounds to dodge a throw. If this occurs, that player is out. -Each match ends when no opposing player remains. The team with players left will receive credit for the number of players they had left on the court. At the conclusion of the 15 minutes, the team with the most points wins. In case of tie, there will NOT be an overtime period (during the regular season). -Stall Count-No player can hold the ball for longer than 5 seconds. Penalty-roll the ball gently to the other team. The referees will be responsible for calling the stall count. Once the count reaches 5, that player must roll the ball over to the other team or be eliminated.-Any player deemed by the officials to not actively making an attempt to engage an opponent (hiding to protect players, or stall for time purposes) shall be called out.-Players are expected to be honest and take themselves out when the time comes, but officials will also be there to help.-Teams are not allowed to cross the center court line under any circumstances. Any part of the foot touching the line is considered crossing. This includes jumping over the centerline to throw at the opposing team. If a player lands over the centerline, they are out and even if they made a throw and hit an opposing player.
